The 74thYunus Social Business Centre (YSBC) has been established at Ryukoku University located in Kyoto, Japan. Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus signed the newest addition to the global YSBC network on June 10, 2019. The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Shiraishi (Vice President of Ryukoku University), Mr. Nonutaka Nozawa (Ryukoku Extension Center) and Ms. Hiroko Kawahara, President, NPO Earth Identity Project –all of who would take part in visits to Yunus Social Businesses operating in Bangladesh to gain a first hand experience of how social businesses operate.
Ryukoku University was founded in 1639, originally as a Buddhist institution for higher education. With a history spanning 380 years, it is one of the oldest universities in Japan. The university is comprised of three campuses situated around Kyoto and has approximately 21,000 students enrolled.
